As reported, a 13-year-old announced a shooting at his school. More and more details are leaking out that are astonishing. There was no suspension. Parents are very afraid for their children.
“I will kill you all!” This threat can be seen in a video circulating on Snapchat. The 13-year-old also announced a shooting attack during recess and during gymnastics class.
The police have left. Their search of the student’s apartment and on the cell phone turned up no concrete clues. When questioned, the 13-year-old admitted everything and said there was no intention behind his statements, which were intended as a joke. Because neither the police nor the Tyrolean Education Directorate believe there is any risk of an attack, the 13-year-old was not suspended.
A parent contacted the Crown to bring everything to light. Other “Krone” informants now provide disturbing details: “Since the incident, many parents have sought psychological help. Every day when their children go to school, they say goodbye in tears. They struggle with themselves and consider whether they should even send their children to school for the holidays – for fear that they will no longer be able to celebrate Christmas together. Because no one can guarantee that the 13-year-old will not turn his threat into reality.”
That’s extreme “Nothing ever happened” – something I’ve heard over and over again since a 13-year-old student’s cruel fantasies became public. That is only partly true. Yes, the man did not carry out his threat. But this incident brings a rat’s tail.
The children and young people had to continue their lessons with police presence in their classes. Since then they have been afraid, go to the new secondary school with an uneasy feeling and hope that their classmate, who is also taking lessons again, remains sensible.
In addition to the children, many parents also suffer from negative consequences. “They are exhausted, crying their eyes out, no longer understand the world and cannot understand how it got to this point in the first place,” say reliable “Krone” informants. “It’s quite intense, what’s happening in the background. What is no less violent is that the matter is presented so innocently to the outside world.”
Yes, I see it the same way. Having to send your child to school with tears in your eyes – accompanied by the fear that you may never see him or her again – is extreme. We can only hope that this incident is fully dealt with within the school and that the students are properly cared for.
There is no place here to downplay matters or sweep them under the table. Because the population must know that such bloodshed also takes place on our doorstep.
