The two opponents were not in a pre-Christmas mood when they argued in a disco in Röthis around 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of Advent. The 20-year-old pulled out a pocket knife and rammed it into the upper body of an 18-year-old.
The injuries the young man suffered during the physical altercation were serious. The 18-year-old was immediately taken to the state hospital in Feldkirch and had to undergo emergency surgery. His condition is now stable.
Successful investigations
Shortly after the incident in the nightclub, the unknown opponent fled. However, he didn’t get far. Extensive investigation by the police from Rankweil and Sulz soon led to the young man being found.
The 20-year-old was arrested on Sunday. During a search, the police also found and seized the alleged murder weapon. Further investigations have been taken over by the Vorarlberg State Police and are currently underway. The suspect is taken to Feldkirch prison on the orders of the Feldkirch public prosecutor.
