Warn family members! – Fake police: wave of fraud sweeps through Tyrol!

Date:

The Tyrolean police sent a warning message to the population on Tuesday afternoon. There are currently increasing numbers of calls across the country from fraudsters posing as police officers or detectives. Family members must be warned!

“The fraudsters pretend to be police officers or detectives on the phone and try to steal cash and valuables. Protect yourself and warn your relatives,” was the call from the executive.

Here’s how to protect yourself
Because such scams occur again and again, sometimes with enormous damage, the police provide tips.

  • End such calls immediately. Do not get involved in any discussions and make it clear to the other person that you will not respond to the demands/offers.
  • Request a callback number for the caller.
  • Don’t let anyone you don’t know enter your house or apartment. To make contact, use the intercom or use the door security chain or security bar.
  • If you receive such a call, report it to the nearest police station.

Don’t let yourself be pressured
Again it is said: the real police would never demand money or inquire about assets. Furthermore, real police would never come to someone’s home and take money or valuables. Under no circumstances should victims allow themselves to be put under pressure by callers.
