Top sport is hardly healthy, especially not when skiing. Former ski racer Pepi Strobl also went through this painful experience when he had a serious accident during training in 2006. That marked the end of the Tyrolean’s career – and he reshaped his life. Unfortunately it was not pain free.
“There was too much pressure on my knee and the cartilage almost cracked and splintered,” the seven-time World Cup winner remembers. “That also meant the end of my career, because my leg was no longer 100 percent healthy. And top sport is not possible with pain.” The Tyrolean adds laughing: “And I slowly became too old for it.” But top sport would take revenge after more than twenty years.
