A 46-year-old Italian wants to prove that she is the daughter of actor Bud Spencer, who died in 2016. The Roman Carlotta Rossi has applied to a court in Rome for recognition of paternity. She wants to submit a DNA test to prove that the movie legend is her father.
Rossi’s mother died in 2015. “I now feel free of the promise I made to my mother.”
“She didn’t want me to tell anyone about my father,” says London-based Rossi, who is a mother of two. On Monday, she released a book called A metá (Half), in which she tells the love story of her daughter Mother with Bud Spencer. The book was released exactly on the sixth anniversary of the actor’s death.
Rossi claims that Bud Spencer paid her child support until she got her doctorate. He financed her summer and winter vacations and an extended stay in Florida and visited her regularly as a child. He supported her mother for years with a monthly contribution of 1000 euros until her death.

Born Carlo Pedersoli in Naples in 1929, Bud Spencer began his career as a competitive swimmer, but he was also a lawyer, entrepreneur, inventor, music producer and bestselling author. The Neapolitan died in June 2016 at the age of 86. Bud Spencer was married to Neapolitan Maria Amato for 56 years, with whom he had three children. Spencer played the brawl in films such as Four Fists for a Hallelujah and Banana Joe. He often appeared in a double suit with Terence Hill.
