A lottery player from California has won the jackpot of the American lottery Mega Millions and won 1.2 billion dollars (corresponding to 1.1 billion euros).
The unknown lucky gambler, who bought his ticket at a gas station in the town of Cottonwood, chose six numbers, Mega Millions announced Saturday.
It is still unclear who it is – and whether the winner knows that he is entitled to the jackpot.

The prize can now be claimed as a lump sum of $549.7 million before taxes or in installments over 30 years.
It is the fifth largest jackpot in Mega Millions history. The largest lottery jackpot in history was $2.04 billion. The winning ticket was also sold in California.
