Brooks died the next morning. after being admitted to Wynn Hospital in Utica. Death was due to “suffocation due to neck compression”according to the medical report. At this time, no details have been released about the motive that led to the attack and subsequent death of the 43-year-old man.

“My most sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Brooks,” James said at a news conference Friday. “I did not take the publication of this video lightly, especially in the middle of the holidays,” but “it is my duty and responsibility” to spread this information, he argued.

James has assured that a “thorough” investigation is underway and that they have already met with Brooks’ family members so they can review footage of what happened.
