Honor for investigators – Darknet killers: Ex-wife’s murder thwarted

Date:

The months-long investigative work not only put a 53-year-old man behind bars, but also brought great honor to the specialists of the Lower Austrian State Criminal Police. The man searched the Internet for a hitman for his ex-wife and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

A killer hired and paid through the dark web. A customer pulling the strings from Lower Austria. And a victim who, thanks to the specialists of the Lower Austrian Criminal Investigation Department, is still among the living.

This is what happened in the Baden district: a 53-year-old posted an advertisement on the platform “Online Killer Market” looking for a hitman to kill his ex-wife. His treacherous plan: to make it look like an accident, the 45-year-old must be run over by a car. His motive: the custody dispute. The man paid more than 8,000 euros for this in the form of Bitcoins.

During the months-long investigation, local detectives managed to thwart the planned murder. The 53-year-old was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Also in this case, the researchers of the Life/Life group of the LKA Lower Austria were honored for their “special criminal achievements” by Minister of the Interior Gerhard Karner and the “Association of Austrian Criminalists”.

Nominations for the Lower Austrian State Criminal Investigation Department
“The excellent research work, which is accompanied by a high degree of commitment and rigor, and the commitment that goes well beyond the normal level, are also reflected in the many awards in recent years,” emphasizes Stefan Pfandler, head of the Netherlands -Austrian State Investigation. Office.
