Serious accident involving a pyrotechnic object in the city of Amstetten. On December 30, around 5:20 p.m., a 16-year-old was walking with his friends on the bike path on Anzengruberstrasse when a New Year’s Eve fireworks exploded in the immediate vicinity of his left hand.
Boy seriously injured
The teenager suffered burns to his left hand, neck and left armpit as a result of the explosion and also lost the last joint of his left index finger. He was taken by ambulance to the Amstetten State Hospital. The Amstetten police are still investigating how exactly the incident could have happened.
In this context, the State Police Directorate of Lower Austria calls on the population to exercise extreme caution when handling pyrotechnic objects and provides tips to prevent accidents.
