A man attacked passers-by with a knife in Berlin on Tuesday, injuring several people. Shortly after the attack, the perpetrator was said to be mentally ill.
As the newspaper ‘Bild’ reports, the attack took place around 11:50 am in Berlin-Charlottenburg, near Charlottenburg Palace. It’s actually a pretty quiet area.
The suspect suddenly stabbed people “wildly” or “randomly” and was then overwhelmed by several witnesses – they allegedly literally jumped on the perpetrator and wrestled him down, reports the newspaper “BZ”.
Two seriously injured
The police were eventually able to arrest the man; nothing has been revealed about his identity or the motive for the crime. Two seriously injured people were confirmed to be in hospital.
According to information from ‘Bild’ and ‘BZ’ there is currently no evidence of an attack motivated by terrorists. The police spokeswoman provided no information.
