In Kazakhstan, nearly 100 vehicles collided on a highway during a snowstorm with poor visibility (see video above). Twenty people, including eleven children, were injured in the pile-up.
The incident took place on January 3 on the A1 highway, which runs from Astana to Petropavlovsk. The footage (see video above) shows icy conditions and poor visibility as vehicles collide during snowfall and storms.
The Kazakh Health Ministry said the injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where fortunately they only required treatment for minor injuries, according to local media.
Authorities blamed drivers’ failure to obey the speed limit and maintain a safe distance in such poor visibility conditions.
According to police, 24 vehicles involved in the collision had to be towed away and 30 others were able to leave the scene of the accident on their own.
