Nottingham Forest is level on points with Arsenal and is the first pursuer of Premier League high-flyer Liverpool. Six wins in a row – a club record – confirms the form of the surprise team. Krone+ took a look at the little football wonder in the center of Great Britain. An analysis:
The city of Nottingham, about 200 kilometers northwest of London, halfway between Leeds, and its population of 350,000 is not only famous for its legendary hero Robin Hood. In the 1970s and 1980s, Nottingham was an uncomfortable place for many major football clubs because it was difficult to play there. The only championship to date (1978) also took place during this period, as well as the double European Cup victory (1979, 1980). The golden memories are fading even for the Tricky Trees’ long-standing fans. The nickname comes from the tree in the club’s coat of arms, which is supposed to symbolize the nearby recreational area – hence the Nottingham FOREST.
