Three teenagers escaped with their lives in a dramatic traffic accident in Salzburg on Saturday evening. The 17-year-old probationary driver’s license holder drove a BMW into the oncoming lane and crashed head-on into a bridge railing. Two friends of the speeding offender were also in the car.
Three young people were lucky on Saturday evening in a dramatic traffic accident in Köstendorf in the Salzburg Flachgau. The 17-year-old driver lost control of the BMW in a right bend and crashed head-on into a bridge railing.
Racing around a corner on the opposite lane
Despite the severity of the impact, the driver and his two passengers – a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old – were only injured and taken to Salzburg Accident Hospital. According to witness statements, the 17-year-old was driving at excessive speed. However, an alcohol test showed that there was no alcohol in the blood.
Total loss at BMW
The car was a total loss and had to be towed away. The road was then cleaned and reopened to traffic. The volunteer fire brigades of Neumarkt and Pfongau quickly arrived on the scene with five vehicles and 35 emergency services.
