“Krone” analysis – Burgenland as the first mood test for Austria

Date:

Today, approximately 250,000 eligible voters in Burgenland elect their 36 representatives to the state parliament. Admittedly, only just under four percent of all Austrian voters come from Burgenland. After the turbulence in forming a government and the many internal party conflicts in the ÖVP and SPÖ, it is now a matter of a national mood test.

1. Don’t just simmer against Kapfenberg in football, but also Andreas Babler against Hans Peter Doskozil in the SPÖ, that is brutality. Which leads to the strange situation that Babler gets rid of his fiercest opponent as his own party in Burgenland performs worse. Or if the absolute majority is maintained, Doskozil will be stronger than ever, contrary to the national trend.
