Half a century ago, Pat Koppa from the town of Stillwater, Minnesota, received a kidney from her father. The transplant allowed the now 71-year-old to live a long life. On the anniversary of the operation, the woman commemorates her father.
The 71-year-old continues to enjoy excellent health. As a child, Koppa suffered from serious health problems. When she was 21, her father donated her a kidney – which is now almost 99 years old!
Koppa remembers her father’s words immediately after the operation: “He said, ‘You know, fathers are the happiest people in the world because they get to have their daughters.’ I am the luckiest person in the world because I gave birth to you twice. ”
Woman advocates organ donation
Koppa’s health improved dramatically after receiving the donor kidney. Since the transplant, she has been committed to organ donation and a healthy life.
Her father suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and eventually passed away in 2017, but his memory lives on in Pat Koppa.
