A toddler was bitten by a Rottweiler in the Swiss canton of Bern on Friday afternoon. The child was seriously injured and had to be flown to a hospital by rescue helicopter. The Swiss veterinary office put the dog to sleep.
The toddler had been attacked on a forecourt in front of a building, police said on Saturday. In doing the doing, the dog had separated and conquered the dog. Police have not provided precise information about the child’s age and circumstances. She justified this with personal protection.
The incident took place in Sumiswald in the Swiss canton of Bern. It was only at the end of October 2024 that a one-year-old Rottweiler had escaped from an apartment in Adlikon near Regendorf in the canton of Zurich. He attacked two children playing and biting them. A five-year-old girl suffered serious injuries to her arms, and a seven-year-old girl was injured on one arm and one leg.
Rottweiler banned in Zurich
The dog also bit two women who tried to rope and help, as well as a policewoman. This four-legged friend was also put to sleep.
Since January 1, 2025, the purchase of New Rottweilers has been prohibited in the Canton of Zurich. The triggers were such attacks on children. If you already have such a dog, you must register. The Rottweiler is subjected to an essence test.
