The search for a 76-year-old who has been missing since Friday came to a tragic end on Saturday: a fire boat discovered the body of the missing man at the bottom of the Traunsee.
A major search operation began at Lake Traunsee on Saturday around 2 p.m., with water rescue and the Traunkirchen volunteer fire brigade present. A 76-year-old man who had been missing since Friday was reported missing.
Emergency services used boats to visually search the shore area, and in deeper waters sonar was used, as Upper Austria’s water rescue department announced.

After just over an hour, the search teams were saddened by the certainty: a fire boat discovered a lifeless body near the shore at the bottom of the lake. The 76-year-old could only be saved dead.
