The dramatic incidents on Tuesday were “only” a first taste: after sometimes huge amounts of fresh snow, the risk of avalanches on the mountains in large parts of Tyrol has risen enormously. There is a common warning level 4 of the 5.
In the Kühtai, a vehicle of the construction site with five people was included in the area of the construction site for the Snow Masses storage center and 30 meters was torn in the depth. The construction workers could climb out of the wreck themselves. They got away relatively light. And in the East Tyrolean kals an avalanche went on slopes. Wanted hours for possible spilled people. Nobody was found.
Widespread danger level 4 out of 5
The fresh snow had already caused dramatic situations and fears on Tuesday. This key can continue on Wednesday. In parts of Tyrol, the avalanche cabin risk has increased dramatically. Especially in the Arlberg area and in the regions south of the inn, there is a risk level 4 – so much danger (see also image below).
“The conditions for snow sports away from secure slopes are delicate,” warns the Avalanche -warning service in its current report. “Even individual winter athletes can easily activate avalanches, even big!”
Danger points hardly recognizable
The danger spots are hardly recognizable and therefore also for experienced people. “Closes and cracks when entering the snow cover and fresh avalanches are alarm boards and give the danger. Remote triggering is possible, “the experts continued.
“A lot of experience” in assessing the avalanche risk and “great restraint” are important.
50 centimeters of fresh snow, sometimes more
In some regions, 30 to 50 centimeters of snow spread on the mountain, more locally. With strong to stormy wind from southwestern directions, powerful collections of the Gauge were also created. In places they would overlap a weak old snow blanket. “They are overlapping and therefore hardly recognizable.”
There is a risk of danger 4 in the West -Karwendel -Bergen above the forest border -so there is a considerable danger.
