Environmental activist Christian A. was sentenced to four weeks by the court of Leopoldstadt because he wanted to save edible things from the garbage space of a supermarket branch. On Thursday he fought the verdict in the regional court of Vienna – dozens of activists came “of solidarity”.
A courtroom with ten places, but five times as many guests who want to support Christian A. The environmental activist appointed his conviction in the Vienna Landl in the court of Leopoldstadt for four weeks. On 26 May he searched the tons in the garbage space of a Hofer branch for food: theft, the first court assessed.
“It was so dirty. Everything was thrown together: edible, batteries, plants. That never had a value of 50 euros. This is completely out of the air,” says the “food rescuer”, who also criticizes that witnesses he did not demand are approved.
Judge: “We are not here in the theater”
When the senate of the judge withdraws for advice, the supporters who had previously broadcast can return to the hall, some are sitting on the floor, signs: “Dumpstern is not theft”, can be read on it.
“This is childish,” the judge was surprised when she returned to the siege in Hal 206. “Quite solidarity than childish,” replies an activist from “Seniors for the future”. Finally, the group, which is also a toddler, can be re -motivated to leave the hall. Before that, the judge was in danger of letting the Chamber free by the police.
Relief, but no victory yet
When Mrs. Rat announces that the judgment is being lifted and negotiated in court, the resounding applause and jubilation breaks in and in front of the negotiating hall: “Stop blows, we are not in the theater,” Sigh the chairman it is visibly relieved that the Turbulent negotiation is over.
Now the court is back on the train. There, the largest hall will also burst into the seams when Christian A. and his lawyer David Jodlbauer again fight for an acquittal.
