It is the first time since the start of Coronapandemia that such a tour is offered. The journey takes place in mid -February and therefore falls on a very special day in Noord -Korea: on February 16, the birthday of the ruler Kim Jong Il, who died in 2011 – was an important holiday in the Asian country.
“Excellent season” for excursion to Noord -Korea
The Koryo Tours travel agency admits that it is a bit icy around the season. However, it is “an excellent time to explore the country during a relatively quiet season” is explained on their website.
The journey can be booked, but not yet confirmed, according to the travel provider. Whether the multiple excursion really takes place depends on whether China will open the border crossing to Noord -Korea. That is not entirely certain.
The journey is to lead to Rason, which is located on the border with China and Russia – this has been a special economic zone for more than 30 years, in which other visa provisions apply than in the rest of the country.
During the Corona Pandemie, the internationally isolated Noord -Korea had disappeared even more than normal: it didn’t even want North Koreans from China to return to their home country. The first tourists who were allowed to visit the country came from Russia. They visited the only Masik-Gryong ski area in the southeast.
