Customs officials in France were not heavily admired: when they checked a courier service, they discovered dinosaurs teeth that were probably smuggled from Morocco to France.
The truck was en route from Spain to Italy. The customs officer Samantha Verdun reported that the detection dogs had discovered in the past along the Côte d’Azur Cannabis of Cocaine. The surprise was all the greater when the officials of the French border town of Menton discovered nine large teeth in two packages at the end of January. These were addressed to recipients near the Italian cities of Genoa and Milan.
An employee of the Prehistoric Museum in Mentoni determined the teeth, who are probably tens of millions of years old and date from the current Morocco.
One of the teeth probably comes from a Zarafasaura, a sea reptile that belongs to the Plesiosaurs and possibly served as an inspiration for Loch Ness’s monster. Three other teeth come from a Mosasaurus, an extinct water with a long jaw. The remaining five teeth are probably teeth of the Dyrosaurus, a predecessor of the crocodile.
