A construction project went wrong in the German Bochum: the external design of a gym should have been transferred inside. In fact, the narrow Lamella setup in zebra style irritation led to the students, some of them even became dizzy …
They were disoriented by the arrangement of the slats and the black and white-striped design in the zebra style, German media reported. A spokesperson for the city of Bochum said in North Rhine-Westphalia. The optical irritation only noted when entering the hall.
He also admitted that the background was annoying for some sports. For example, baskets and nets can hardly be seen in the gym. A member of the sports committee suspects that the architects have not been advised. The gym has been used by four schools since November 2024 – two secondary schools, an extensive school and a secondary school.

Lamels are now being removed
The construction project cost almost 20 million euros. 14 of them came from the city, about five million. “The new building is located in height, selection of materials and design on the city -containing,” said a press release from the city from November 2024. The gym was directly connected to the classrooms with a lift and steps.
This plan seems to have gone wrong: due to the disorientation, 48,000 euros must now be taken control of the conversion. From next week the slats will be removed and sorted again that clear and dark walls are made everywhere. The slats have therefore been converted uniform. The clear slats must be painted again during the Easter holidays.
Incidentally, a monument permit had to be obtained for the demolition of the previous gym. This was part of a building complex from the late 1950s, which was considered an important emphasis on urban development after the Second World War.
