The electronic access permit ETA has been asked since Wednesday for travel to Great Britain, which is prescribed from 2 April. The passport alone – as in the US – no longer good. Costs: twelve euros – for the time being.
In essence, the ETA is a digital security check from those who come to Great Britain without a visa. For the time being it will cost the equivalent of twelve euros.
- For example, possible criminal registers are requested. The British government promises that “better security controls are taking place to prevent abuse of our immigration system”.
- A successfully requested ETA entitled to different journeys and stay for up to six months in a period of two years. The passport must be valid during this time.
Registration via app possible
The British Ministry of the Interior recommends its own app for the application. In addition to answering the security questions and information about the address and the workplace, a photo of the passport and a photo of the face must be uploaded to everyone during the age of nine.
The price must rise to 19 euros
If you do not have a suitable mobile phone, you can also use a computer and the corresponding website. The price for ETA is expected to rise to the equivalent of 19 euros in the coming months.
