Date:

Dramatic scenes unfolded on Sunday at a children’s football tournament in Gondershausen in Germany’s Rhein-Hunsrück district. A bouncy castle was suddenly grabbed by a tornado and pulled up, causing several children to fall four to five meters. Nine were injured, some seriously.

The accident happened at the beginning of the afternoon during a children’s football tournament on the sports field, the police reported in Koblenz on Sunday. Nine children were injured, some seriously, when they fell from a height of four to five meters.

Multiple helicopters in action
Four of the five seriously injured children had to be flown to hospitals by rescue helicopters, the others were taken to hospitals by rescue vehicles. The police have investigated the spot and the bouncy castle is secured.

Earlier this year, an eight-year-old girl died in a similar incident in Spain, and six children died just weeks earlier in Australia. In both cases the bouncy castles were blown up by strong winds.
