The gap of the GLAN -CYCLUSPAD will be closed soon. There is already an staging in Klagenfurt for this – but a lock far ahead of the construction site now provides a shock of the head.
More than two years ago, the city and state politics announced the long -awaited closure of the cycle path (R7) between Klagenfurt and St. Veit. In particular, this is the part between the busy suppanstrasse and Mageegger Straße in the northeast of Klagenfurt.
The first construction work started last year. Shortly thereafter, the popular walking and cycling path was closed from the Mantschehofgasse or the Sablary bridge of Apollonia, although not really worked in this 850 meter long section. A few days ago the excavators rolled up again, they are currently working in the field of the new underpass on Suppanstrasse.

The cycle path is therefore hardly affected, but still blocked – at least officially. Because this lock is professionally ignored. The barriers were simply pushed aside by strangers. Since then, the section has been used daily by passers -by and hobby athletes, as a “crown” local inspection turned out.
“Despite the lock, we walk there every day, because the excavators work on the other side anyway and the path is clear,” says a few. If everything goes according to plan, the GAP closure will be completed this year.
The lock has been checked
Sandra Wassermann as the responsible city councilor: “Because of the good cooperation with the state and the landowner, the work is now going fast. The gap closure becomes a milestone of the bicycle infrastructure. The cycles path lock is now checked by us.
