Scanning systems often cause problems in Park and Ritsystemen-that will be expensive! Older users in particular are overwhelmed by the system without barriers, subsequent payment requests are not uncommon. However, parking garage operator APCOA is accommodating when a valid ticket is submitted.
It was a nice excursion that the couple received on the occasion of the 60th wedding day: a short trip to Salzburg and train ticket, night and tickets for a Vivaldi concert. They parked the car in the Garage station in Wiener Neustadt. “The departure was stressful,” said 86-year-old Heinz S. because shortly before they heard the train started half an hour earlier. So they rushed to the train station and overlooked the long instruction to park well when entering the parking garage.
The two came back the next day. “It was dark and it was not a barrier at the exit,” said S., so he just drove away without scanning the train ticket. The annoying surprise followed only half a year later. A payment request from parking garage operator APCOA fluttered into the house: 135 euros had to be paid.
ÖBB Price The proven system without barriers
“This system is already successfully used at many locations,” justifies spokesperson for ÖBB, Christopher Seif of this parking principle. “An advantage is that there is no barrier, but a traffic light. This jumps to green once a valid ticket is recognized.
However, the couple did not know this system: “We are used to the fact that there is a barrier in parking garages and a machine where you pay for the exit.”
APCOA is accommodating and currently also accepts train tickets that were later submitted at 48 hours. Then “only” a processing costs of 35 euros must be paid.
Still remains. Because: “Who will get up for half a year or more?”
