Now new details about the dramatic avalanche accident of Kartitsch (Lienz District) were known for Wednesday afternoon. The Alpinist trio on the Carnic Ridge almost became a trickical drive snow. As a miracle, everyone remained completely unharmed.
Two locals (25 and 28), a Hungarian (24) and another 44-year-old locals wanted to climb from the Kartite Sattel to the Big Kinigat (2689 m) on the Carnian Comb. The tourers who live in the Innsbruck area started much later than planned – at 11 am, so they only reached the width of approximately 2,215 at around 2,250 meters.
Tour actually broken down
“Because of the advanced time, they no longer rose to the big cinema,” says Gernot GanEner of the Alpine Police East Tirol. Instead, the northeastern flank of the 2482 meter -meter -high tschar -tubers pulled the eye. “They still wanted to control it,” says Ganider.
While the 44-year-old preferred to stay there by width, the men stood in the direction of Tschar nodules. This almost became a fatal downfall for the trio.
Because around 2.45 pm an 80 meter wide snowboard dissolved on the steep site of 35 degrees. That tore the trio about 200 meters. While the 28-year-old was not spilled thanks to his avalanche airbag, the snow masses buried the 25-year-old to the hip. The Hungarian only rose his head from the avalanche.
No scratches after a 200 -meter crash
The partially shower, which freed himself and the 28-year-old managed to dig out the Hungary. Everyone survived not only the 200-meter crash, but also the leakage and a miracle.
A random departing mountain guide warned the control center. “Because two alpinists had lost their skis, the Libelle Tirol Police helicopter had to fall back,” says Alpine Policman Ganeider.
Treacherous, fatal drive snow
All had LVS devices, in the accident area there was an avalanche warning level danger. “In the avalanche ramp there was snow -cut snow in the upper part,” says Ganeider. This was difficult to judge for foreigners.
