Three cats and a dog had to live in a small, completely hidden apartment in Gleisdorf. It was full of stools, waste and rotten food, food and water. The owner saw his animals as a kind of “therapy”.
“The apartment of about 30 square meters was in an unbearable state,” says the Arche Noah Graz Animal Shelter in Gleisdorf last Friday. Official veterinarian Gerhard Kutschera had asked the effort – rightly so, because the image that offered itself was unbearable: “Bedkoming of a few weeks, tons of waste, rotten food – a nightmare for people and animals.”
There were no berths for the three cats and the American Stafshire man, and feed and water were also missing. “The dog was completely scared and completely overwhelmed by the situation, the three cats all lean and healthy,” said animals’ rescuers.
Owner apparently has psychological problems
The owner arrived after about 15 minutes. He is young, should suffer from depression and consume drugs. “Nervous, huge, but still cooperative – he wanted to help his animals, but was completely overwhelmed by the situation. He saw his animals as his only support with a kind of therapy,” says Noah’s Ark.
All malnourished animals, cats sick
The animals were immediately taken to Graz in the Noah Ark. The first check in the veterinary practice of Liebenau showed that everyone is malnourished. The cats also suffered from eye infections and ear mite, one of the cats can be pregnant – and that of their own brother. The owner has already apart from the dog and the decision is still unclear for the cats.
