On Tuesday, a 62-year-old farmer was working on his farm in Grein (Upper Austria) together with his grandson (9). The fatal accident happened around 2 p.m. The grandfather wedged the boy’s right ankle between a wall and the shovel of his farm truck – seriously injured.
An accident occurred on an agricultural plot in the municipality of Grein around 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The 62-year-old farmer carried out the work in the presence of his nine-year-old grandson.
He drove a so-called Hoftruck to remove stones with the shovel on it. When he wanted to back up, the grandson stepped in front of the shovel. Due to the slight incline, the vehicle initially drove forward. The nine-year-old’s right ankle was wedged between the shovel and the wall behind it.
The boy was seriously injured and was taken by rescue helicopter to Kepler University Hospital.
