With Hungary and Slovakia, two of our neighboring countries are currently fighting outbreaks of the very contemplative mouth and claw disease. The alarm bells are already for the farmers in this country. Lower Austria-Landes Vice Stephan Pernkopf calls for its own limited zones and an immediate import stop.
The mouth and claw disease is a highly contagious animal disease that can cause considerable economic damage to farm animals such as cattle, sheep, pigs and goat and therefore a disaster for each affected company, for all animal husbandry, regarding the security of delivery as a whole. In Hungary and Slovakia, farmers, politics and also the red and white Red Army are plagued by a help. The alarm bells are already shrill at the mighty Lower Austria -farmer Stephan Pernkopf.
“A distribution of the high -containing viral disease to Austria must be stopped in every possible way! It is good that the experts from the Austrian army immediately offer help with decontamination trains and epidemics,” The Staatsvice of Lower Austria told the “Krone”.
Import stop and limited zones required
He calls for further hard measures on the border – namely an import stop of living animals and fresh meat from neighboring countries who are concerned about Austria. “And extensive protective and limited zones and stricter border controls are needed, so that animal disorders do not spread to Austria,” adds Pernkopf.
He had already contacted the ministry and experts. Preparations for corresponding regulations “in the interest of the farmers” have already been made according to “Krone” information.
