Date:

A 52-year-old suspect ambushed his ex-girlfriend in Vienna on Monday evening in front of her apartment building and attacked her with a knife. The woman suffered a stab wound to her chest, but was able to drag herself to a nearby bar.

The act took place shortly before 10.45 pm in the Penzing district. After stabbing the 60-year-old with a knife, the alleged perpetrator, a Pole, fled the crime scene and threw away the murder weapon.

Emergency surgery in the hospital
A local owner later alerted the police because the victim of the stabbing had entered his area staggering and bleeding. She was able to give at least vague clues about the perpetrator before being taken to a hospital by an ambulance, police spokeswoman Barbara Gass said. The 60-year-old was operated on, there was no danger to life, it said.

The suspect was sought. Some time after, he was temporarily arrested by officials, the spokeswoman said. “He is being held by the police and his questioning is pending.” The victim, who is being treated in a hospital, has not yet been questioned. The knife was secured.

Ex boyfriend shouldn’t have approached
The 52-year-old should not have approached his ex-girlfriend at all. At the time of the crime, a court order had already been issued against the suspect. The investigation is underway.
