Armed gang members attacked a prison in the Caribbean state of Haiti and liberated prisoners. It is said of 500 prisoners that they were successful.
Before storming the prison, alleged members of the Gang Coalition Viv Ansanm (“Live Together”) had attacked the police station in Mirebalais and set fire to vehicles and houses, as reported, the newspaper “Le Nouvelliste”.
According to Radio Metrópole, at least four people died in the gang attack in the center team. Mirebalais is approximately 55 kilometers northeast of the capital Port-au-Prince.
Gang battles do not end
Haiti, with around twelve million inhabitants, has felt in Chaos and Bendegeweld since the murder of President Jovenel Moïse. According to the UN, more than 5000 people were killed in Bendegechtjest and tens of thousands in 2024. In the meantime, gangs already check more than 80 percent of the capital.
Initially there were no official information about the exact number of residents who escaped on Monday in the central city of Mirrabalais.
