Great commitment to Brandbrigade and Rescue in the Mödling district in Lower Austria: after a fire broke out in the basement of a house with several sties, dense smoke moved through all rooms. The building had to be evacuated.
Due to the smell of smoke in the stairs, the fire brigade was called to an address in Anton-Benya-Straße in Vösendorf. At this point, no one suspected that in the basement of the house with 30 apartments in a compartment quickly spread.
Fire raged in the basement
“When we arrived on the spot, the stairs were already heavily smoky,” says a firefighter. The penetration in the fire stove was made more difficult because of the fact that the basement door was dropped off. When the extinguishing teams were finally able to move forward, more and more denser smoke and enormous heat development made it difficult to use.
Residential building evacuated
At the same time, firefighters started evacuating the house by comrades of Brunn am Mountains and Wiener Neudorf. Residents were equipped with escape filter masks and brought out. The evacuation was performed on the upper floors with the help of a lift and a woman and her dog could be brought to safety. Since countless apartment doors had to be openly opened in the course of the evacuation of the building to look for potentially caught people, the Viennese professional rescue delivered replacement doors for the provisional reversal.
Large contingent of emergency services
Five residents of the house had to be treated by paramedics teams because of the strong smoke development, one person was taken to the hospital as a precaution. 22 Rotreuz -Helpers were used with six rescue vehicles and two medical emergency cars. The extinguishing work was done by around 70 firefighters.
