On Thursday afternoon, there was a violent altercation between two civilians in the Seitenstettengasse in the inner city of Vienna, which ended in a stabbing. Fortunately, two soldiers of the 5th Guards Company were on their way to the ministry at the same time and were able to intervene in time.
One of the two had seen the stabbing and quickly came to the aid of the comrade he had just relieved. Both managed to overpower the alleged attacker in time. No shots were fired.

Shortly afterwards, the two soldiers alerted the police and rescuers. Immediately after the attack, one of the two soldiers gave first aid to the injured. In a first reaction, Minister Klaudia Tanner thanked the two brave soldiers for their decisive action: “I am glad that the two soldiers were unharmed and thank them for their efforts.”
