From today, visitors from Venice have to pay access again. So far, 77,000 people have paid the reimbursement, 8,000 only for Good Friday. A day visit costs a maximum of ten euros, more than ever.

Venice is the only city worldwide that has introduced such a model. “This measure is important because we know in advance about the number of arrivals in Venice,” explains the tourist officer of the municipality of Venice, Simone Venturini.

Admission price for 54 days
Since today (Good Friday), tourists have to reach their wallets again when they want to walk through the Italian lagoon city. This now applies continuously until 4 May and then from the second weekend in May to 27 July from Friday to Sunday. The measure applies on 2024 from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. And a total of 54 days.

If you book late, you pay twice
In short, the Venice visit costs five euros, but if you book only four days in advance, you have to pay twice. With the payment you will receive a QR code on the mobile phone, without which a maximum of 300 euros in the Lagoon City in the Lagoon City.

“At the end of this year’s experiment we will analyze the effects and discuss how we can further strengthen daily fee based on the effects achieved,” says Venturini. Venice had already asked for an entrance fee last year.

Protest against reimbursements
Not everyone see the access payments as positive as the tourist officer. In social networks, groups of visitors ask to not pay the costs and to place fake QR codes on the internet.
