During the Easter dinner, a Feuerinferno broke out on the “Egg” farm in Alpbach (Tyrolean district of Kufstein). The family still freed the cows, but almost completely burned. The Gulf of helpfulness is a comfort in dark days.
A rubble field with charred wooden beams, there and there a broken piece of household items looks out. Of the proud courtyard on the Upper Höhenweg in Alpbach, the Margreiter family has almost nothing left, it is the bitter hour zero. And it had been invested for many years of money and effort to renovate the building and to modernize it with the roots from the 12th century.
“It burns with you”
Looking back on Easter Monday shortly after 1 p.m.: “It is burning with you!” The neighbor fell in the door, while the residents and the family visit from Wildschönau just have the dessert on the table.
The children in the Tenne while rocking
It already smokes in the garage of the farm building. And daughter Eva (10) and her cousin Verena are on the swing in the Tenne above! The children run outside and then it is about freeing the ten cows and seven calves from the stable. “At the last calf the flames shot up at the Tenne,” Farmer Christine assesses the bad minutes.
When the animals finally run into the saving meadow, the time has passed to get the most important property from the house. The flames of the living channel are confronted with the wind. Bauer Gottlieb wants to go inside again, but is afraid: “It crashed everywhere.” Christine looks back: “In such situations you are next to you, but the promotion works.”
From documents to school is important – everything gone
“We have saved our lives, otherwise lost almost everything – photos, documents, shoes, school affairs,” Christine spontaneously gives up. The basis for agricultural work – tugboats, mowing and loading car – is also destroyed. The next day, the fire researchers concentrated on the tractor as a fire stove.
Has saved the next house with the right “tactic”
The rescue of the exposed farm was unfortunately illusory for around 150 firefighters. “We therefore focused on the next house. In the beginning I didn’t think we could hold it,” Alpbach’s Fire Brigade Commander Christoph Lintner admits. The old wooden house can still be protected with water curtains. The family will serve as accommodation, the first night was spent on the Alm, where the animals are now.
Help at the door – Donor unknown
When De Boer’s family arrived at the Alm on Monday, food and clothing were already at the door. “We don’t even know who,” says De Boer. The offers were overwhelming: “Calls came and in the evening I probably had 100 WhatsApp on my cell phone.” The Red Cross immediately organized a tasting for the helpers.
Mayor Markus Bischofer wants to immediately inform the community start page how you can best help. In the country you now want to use an immediate aid fund. As head of the village and the rifle captain, he wants to arrange a donation of the shooting cassade for the old comrade Gottlieb. And the mayor promises: “We want to support reconstruction with all his regulations as unlikely as possible.” Because the goal is clear: the “egg” farm has to get up again.
