Amazon started the first 27 project Kuiper -Satellites

The American group Amazon has overcome an obstacle to offer fast internet via satellite. From the Cape Canaveral Space Station in Florida, an Atlas-V winning rocket with the 27 first satellites on Tuesday evening from Monday to Tuesday.

With the so-called Kuiper project, Amazon wants to compete with the Starlink satellite network of the American billionaire Elon Musk.

Van Kuiper is said to make internet connections possible in previously poorly covered regions. The Tech billionaire and founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos had delayed. He has a few years behind Starlink, which is used in many countries in America and in parts of Europe, among others.

Invested $ ten billion
Amazon wants to take around 3,200 satellites to the Earthbaan in total. The satellite -based internet should be available in the course of this year. The group sets the project costs for Kuiper to $ 10 billion (around 8.8 billion euros).

Musks Starlink already contains 6750 satellites. The tech entrepreneur and consultant of US President Donald Trump has therefore received a significant influence worldwide in recent years. Ukraine uses Starlink in the defense war against Russia, among others.

Other companies and governments also see the area with interest. China has its own project. In Europe, the French satellite operator Eutelsat hopes to be able to compete with Starlink.
