A round thing – Glass Recycling in Austria: good for nature

Date:

Austria without an old glass collection? Hardly conceivable! Since the mid -1970s we have empty glass bottles and jam glasses of residual waste – and with great effort. We have already collected about 8 million tons of old glass. This corresponds to approximately 25 billion glass packaging, which has been introduced new life thanks to recycling. A green balance that we can be proud of!

Whether it is wine bottle or perfume bottle – all glass packaging is collected. And it is very simple: colored glass belongs to the colored glass, colorless in the white glass. A simple handle that does a lot. Because new bottles and food glasses are made of waste glass. This saves raw materials from nature. There are on average two -thirds in new glass packaging. This is how environmental protection goes in daily life!

Jam -glasses also wants to be recycled
What Glass bottles are already working excellent, can get even better with food glasses. They also want to be removed and recycled in the old glass. Even if there was a remnant of the content in the glass. If you place food glasses in the remaining waste, take the chance of recycling. So the following applies: jam, chocolate cream, pesto and so on and then add the glass to the waste glass. For his next life as a glass packaging. Maybe the jam glass in the body of a champagne bottle comes back. Watering is usually not necessary – except for honey glasses, the beekeepers advise to protect bees. So we give every glass a second chance. Incidentally, any wrong removal – for example in the remaining waste bag – the glass is rebirth. Shame!

Fungus in the pestoglas-what now?
Mold spread in half -full of pestoglas? It is best to get rid of it as quickly as possible. But that would be a shame. Unfortunately the pesto is lost, but there are possibilities for the glass. So: put the eyes too and with a cloth, place the pesto in the remaining waste. The food glass can be added to the old glass as it is – or flushed a bit. Finished!

Recycling percentage of more than 80 percent – that is impressive
More than 80 percent of all glass packages are recycled in Austria. Moreover, Dr. Harald Hauke, director of Austria Glas Recycling GmbH: “For people in Austria it has been a good sound for almost 5 decades to remove carefully glass packaging. Because they clean and protect nature.” And Di Eva Koller, director of Austria Glas Recycling GmbH, emphasizes: “To melt old glass to melt, considerably less energy than the primary raw materials. This is a different environment bonus of glass recycling. 10 % old glass content in the new production of glass packaging.” Energy consumption reduces energy consumption. “

Glass Recycling is released on Austria
The non-profit company Austria Glas Recycling has ensured that glass recycling in Austria has been working for almost 50 years. This can depend on people in Austria. Because: every bottle deserves a second chance. At least! And every jam glass, every pestogla veranda, every perfume bottle. Just every empty glass packaging.
