An accident led to the death of different animals in a single home house Laussa (Upper Austria). In the case of a smoldering fire in the basement of the house, three monkeys and more than 40 birds have died.
The 64-year-old owner had left his house around 7 a.m. and had returned shortly after 1 p.m. He saw a strong smoke development and smell of fire. In the basement he discovered a smoking table that he has replaced himself. For the animals he had saved in the basement, all the help came too late.
Death due to toxic flue gas
Researchers from Brander assume that a defect for electrical engineering has activated the smoldering fire. A cable break or a rodent bite on a 230 -volt cable may have been the cause. Due to the lack of oxygen, no open fire developed, but the toxic flue gases were enough to kill the animals.
The investigation into the precise fire is on.
