An ex-colleague had “flared up” the command room, the members of the Münster Volunteer Fire Brigade in Tyrol (Kufstein District), sacrificed a large part of their free time to repair the damage for months.

View back to August 23, 2024: An initial stranger had entered the Münster fire station. There he tore out the safe and stuck in the command room. The operation center was completely destroyed and the handcuffs clicked quickly for the perpetrator.

And the firefighters of Münster were surprised: the 31-year-old indigenous Fire Devil was a former colleague. He belonged to the Münster Fire Brigade for many years.

Whole house renovation case
But the bewilderment around the group commander Marco Ludl had to quickly give the plans for the repair of the command center and the removal of the damage throughout the building. Because smoke and deposits of the fire had made the entire house a renovation case.

And it was necessary to maintain operational readiness. “We have put the Florian station on different handheld radio devices in other rooms, so that we were always ready for use,” says Ludl.

“In any case, there are very demanding and stressful times behind us,” says the commander in an interview with the “Krone” in the recently renovated Command Chamber. The many damage in the rest of the building is also eliminated nine months after the fire.

“Fortunately, the Tyrolean insurance has treated everything, but we still had to invest hundreds of working hours in our free time in the renovation. From the project management to cleaning work, the area of ​​responsibility of the weirs consisting of around 130 members.

A special activity took a lot of time: dismantling and cleaning the helmets. “Because they are polluted by deposits,” says Vice commander Martin Lechner. This “fate” had also suffered mathematics. They were given names and brought into cleansing in different tranches.

Companies from the region helped
By the way, Martin Lechner laid the tiles, companies from the village or the surrounding area were almost guns for renovation work. “That helped us a lot,” says commander Ludl.

Incidentally, the arsonist offered his help in the renovation in a letter from the U-stick. Fortunately, the Münsterer refused of course

Fire Devil in custody for three years
He would have had hardly any time to help. Because – also because of other violations – he was legally sentenced to three years in prison.
