A tragic accident on a bicycle bridge in New York injured two people – a man floated temporarily in starvig danger. The cause: a hardly visible kite cord.
As the New York police announced, the incident took place on Sunday afternoon at 5:20 PM. On the Marine Parkway Bridge, which connects Brooklyn with Queens. The 36-year-old Jennifer Noble and her 40-year-old friend were on their bikes on their way home from a trip to the beach of Jacob Riis Park when they drove to a tense kite in a bicycle lane.
Fingers cut, trachea was seriously injured
The cord cuts noelen fingers and injured her on the forehead and helmet. Her companion was hit hard in the neck: the cord cut his throat on him, injured the windpipe and led to massive blood loss. He had to be admitted to the hospital immediately and treated in intensive care.
According to a donation campaign on GoFundme set up for the incident, the situation is stable, but the healing process becomes long and challenging. The donations collected must mainly relate to the medical treatment costs and support the wounded in his continuous costs of living.
Short, dramatic scene
In an interview with the “gothakist” portal, Jennifer Noble said about the incident. She reported that she saw an unusually flying black and white kite in the air as a passionate bird watcher. Moments later she felt a tense cord in the air while driving: “I tried to stop her by hand, but she cut through my fingers, over my face, touched my helmet – and then my friend.”
Is a stroke from a fighting kite?
The cord was so thin that it was hardly recognizable. According to Noble, it looked like the glass -coated threads used in the so -called “kite fight” -a kite combat game in which the cords of other dragons must be cut. These dangerous threads are already prohibited in many countries because of the corresponding risk of injury. It is currently still unclear whether it was actually a fighting kite.
Noble appealed to public safety with regard to such practices more: “It is just a matter of time before someone is injured again.” Your wounded partner will continue to be cared for for intensive care. The authorities determine how the Dragon Cord could even reach the bridge.
