The Kapfenberg fire brigades were warned on Saturday at Pentecost of a flight accident. A 59-year-old Glider pilot had lost control of his plane and was just able to prevent a crash in the inhabited area.
The accident took place shortly after noon near Kapfenberg airport. Immediately before the unexpected landing, the pilot succeeded in the glider over some residential buildings. Eventually he came to the ground on a dike near the Kromme Banken.
Fire brigade had to fight for the wreck
The Kapfenberg-Hachendorf and Kapfenberg City Brandbrigades first had to cut different trees to come to the accident. Then the wounded 59-year-old was saved, who was then transferred to the Red Cross.
A flight instructor who was present on the site estimated the impact speed at approximately 60 km/h. The pilot was seriously injured in the hard landing and was admitted to hospital by the emergency doctor.
