Unrest in Los Angeles – Demonstrants enlightened self -ailing taxis

Date:

Protests against the American immigration authority ICE in Los Angeles escalate after the US President had sent the National Guard to the US state of California. Some demonstrators had focused on self -advising taxis – they would have ordered the vehicles to the city center to light them.

The situation in the city on the American west coast is being caught: the security authorities had imposed a ban on a meeting for the city center after riots. The police said there were 56 arrests in the weekend.

Autonomous taxis were literally dismantled
The rioters were quite creative in their anger of destruction: demonstrators would have ordered self -driving cars from the Waymo taxi company to the city center, where they were eventually blocked to destroy them. Three vehicles went up in flames – Slogans were sprayed on others and pierced the taxis with different objects. Tires were also stabbed and even doors were demolished, as the newspaper “Los Angeles” Times reported.

Burning batteries endanger emergency services
Two batteries of the enlightened Electo vehicles are said to have exploded by vandalism acts. The executing power warned that the batteries of the enlightened cars are a health risk. “Burning lithium ion batteries have released toxic gases, including hydrocarbon, and pose a danger for emergency services and people in the neighborhood,” said a LAPD explanation.

The company responded to the incidents and initially hired the company in the city center of Los Angeles. “Different Waymo vehicles are near active protests in the city center of Los Angeles and cannot be reduced,” a company spokesperson told NBC. Other vehicles are also the target of the vandals: Lime’s electric scooters were thrown on the burning wrecks.

Despite the great interest in the Waymo service, the autonomous vehicles have always been the goal of attackers in the past. It was not until January that a self-driving taxis in Beverly Grove were damaged by a gang, last year a Californian was charged, who had ruined 17 Waymo vehicles within three days.

Police chief Jim McDonnell said that the case had now “been out of hand” and “the number of arrests so far nothing has been compared to what will come”. To assess whether external reinforcement is necessary, he must first know how the national guard of the police in Los Angeles should help to maintain order.
