Almost every day there are reports of riots and attacks on citizens with fatalities in the vicinity of the output points for humanitarian goods in the Gaza Strip. More than two dozen employees of the aid organization were on their way to a distribution center when their bus was “brutally attacked,” said GHF, based in Washington. There are countless injuries and the fear that some team members were taken as hostages, it said. The team was on its way to a distribution center west of Khan Younis.
Aid organization: “Hamas has been threatening us for days”
“We condemn this horrible and targeted attack on the sharpest,” said it in the message. “They were helpers. Humanitarian helpers. Fathers, brothers, sons and friends who risked their lives every day to help others.” The attack did not happen in a vacuum. Hamas has threatened the team and the citizens who accept help for days. “We ask the international community to immediately condemn Hamas for this unfounded attack and the constant threat to our employees who only try to provide the Palestinian population food,” the GHF continued.
The use of the GHF started last month after almost three months of Israeli blockade of assistance. This should be an alternative to the use of the UN and international aid organizations. Israel and the United States want to prevent Hamas from being used by using GHF. However, the foundation is controversial, recently there were always fatal incidents near their distribution centers. Only on Wednesday, according to Palestinian information, were more than 42 Palestinians in the vicinity of distribution centers killed by shots of the Israeli army.
