It should only be a routine insert against annoying weeds, but ended in a devastating Brandinferno. On Wednesday morning there was a fire in the Flachgau community of Köstendorf on an estate. Now it is clear: the flames were fueled by a gas burner that was used to combat weed.
Woman is involuntarily a arsonist
According to the Salzburg State Criminal Police Office research, a 57-year-old woman who was commissioned to work with the so-called Flämmenwanzen became an involuntary arsonist. Apparently a flame jumped from the burner to a nearby building – and led to a fatal chain reaction.
Although the woman, along with different people, still tried to fight the fire with handfather extinguishers, it was too late: the fire spread quickly. Only greater damage can be prevented by the courageous use of various volunteers.
Happiness in accident: people and animals were not damaged. But the material damage is enormous -it is estimated at a lower seven -digit euro amount.
