A glider with an Austrian pilot on board crashed on Wednesday in the Monte Valinis area in the province of Friuli van Pordenone from a height of 200 meters. Searching and repairing was complicated.
The pilot’s Vliegenoten reported the crash and specified the corresponding coordinates, as the Friuli Alpine Rescue reported. A helicopter from the Alpine Rescue started looking for the area from above without seeing anything and had to stop in the base camp after a while. Then there were more precise coordinates. A nurse from the Alpine Rescue was able to offer first aid until the helicopter’s medical technical team also came on board with a wind.
The pilot, who had fallen into a forest and had contracted a head injury, was laid out, pulled on board with the wind and taken to the hospital in Udine. There was no more detailed information about the origin of the Austrian and his age.
