Dramatic scenes played on an idyllic forest path near the Giglachsee (Styria) on Sunday afternoon: a 44-year-old walker was trampled by a scare-out cow herd and that for her husband’s eyes!
The couple and the dog were on their way to the original Alm when the accident occurred. Apparently the four-legged friend of the approximately 30-person herd came too close and led to a real rush. The animals reacted in panic, followed the dog and ran directly to the woman.
Woman brought to the hospital with a rescue helicopter
The walker was understood and seriously injured by the crazy herd. As the directorate of the Styria State Police reports, a rescue helicopter brought her to the Schwarzach Hospital.
According to the woman, the dog was even leashed at the incident. And: Near the pasture area was a clear warning that mother animals protect their young – but apparently it was not enough to prevent the tragedy.
