“I killed my sister and now I’m going to kill myself!” With this sentence, an unknown caller started a large-scale operation in Villach on Friday evening.
A phone call came in at a police station in Vienna on Friday evening that would cause a lot of confusion. “The stranger claimed he had killed his sister and was now going to commit suicide!” reports police spokesman Markus Dexl of the “Krone”. The Viennese officials then used cell phone tracking to locate a man from Villach who allegedly made the call. The Cobra, the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG), seven patrols and the standby units immediately moved to the said address.
Once there, it turned out within a few minutes that the caller could not be Villacher: “The phone number was completely different!” Whether it was “just” a bad joke has not yet become clear. “Further research will lead the colleagues in Vienna!” said Dexl. In any case, no body has been found.
