In order to keep the legendary Porsche Museum in Gmünd (Carinthia) up and running, a 69-year-old and a 77-year-old woman from Upper Carinthia were reactivated from retirement.
Christoph Pfeifhofer of the Porsche Museum has tried several times with vacancies for cashiers. However, he never received an application.
“Help me at work”
But now two pensioners from Gmünd have returned from retirement to help out as cashiers at the Porsche Museum. “One lady is 77 years old and the other woman is 69 years old. Both are registered with me as normal and actively support me at work. The weekend shifts are also not a problem,” says the Porsche king, grateful for the temporary help.
“The unemployed are being paid too much!”
Pfeifhofer sees the problem of the lack of employees in, among other things, the excessive unemployment benefits. “People who don’t work are paid way too much. Then nobody wants to get their hands dirty anymore!” complains the Upper Carinthian entrepreneur: “That’s a crucial point why we have to fight for employees. If we pay them more, we get the money elsewhere – for example with higher prices for the products on offer – a vicious circle!”
