The Italian prime minister has lost enough parliamentary support to rule, after leaving the Senate of his former coalition partners, the five-star movement and the right of Silvio Berlusconi and Matteo Salvini.

The vote on the no-confidence vote is still underway, but with the absence of the M5S, Berlusconi’s Forza Italia (FI) and Salvini’s League, Draghi is losing the parliamentary majority and the legal number needed for the result to be useful .

The prime minister left the Senate after knowing the intentions of his partners and is now expected to appear before the head of state, Sergio Mattarella, for whom resigned last weekbut who froze his resignation until it is discussed in Parliament today.
